The following norms are to be observed regarding final year B.E / B.Tech project for the academic year 2009-2010.

        

  1. Department wise staff list with designation and area of specialization of the staff concerned was put up in the student notice board of the department concerned.  Students may discuss with the concerned staff about their proposed project and for finalization of the project guide. 
  2. The HOD in consultation with the project coordinator and students will finalize the details of guide chosen and students identified for doing project.
  3.  Number of student per batch shall not exceed 4.  The group may be formed such as their percentage of marks should be considered, so that students having high and low percentage of marks are mixed.
  4. Students are permitted to do the project inside the college, public sector undertaking units and reputed private concern.  Student should intimate to the Principal through HOD and project coordinator, about the profile of the company, venue etc., if they have proposed to do the project outside the college.
  5. Such of those students doing projects outside the campus should apply for prior permission from the Principal / HODs before leaving the college.  On duty will be granted only after the submission of attendance certificate obtained from the industries / Research center.
  6. Students are not permitted to do the project in local training centers as they have collected huge amount and selling the fabricated model (repeated, sold earlier).  It was reported that such fabricated model was in use in certain colleges.  Also sometimes the same fabricated model was shown at the time of project and viva voce at different colleges.  External Examiners may reject such projects leading to failure of the student in the project and viva voce.  Hence students are to be cautious about doing projects in local training center.
  7. Students who are doing projects in the college are informed to give the requisition for the facilities required such as usage of lab, computers etc. to the concerned project coordinator on or before 16.10.2009.  Whenever the facilities requested are not met by the parent – department, arrangements will be made to utilize the other department facilities.
  8. In case of students doing project in reputed industries or Government units, the guide will visit the concerned venue and students attendance will be recorded.
  9. Each batch should maintain a file that will be monitored, weekly once, by the respective guides and the project coordinator / HOD.  The file shall contain the photo copy of the various approval letters, including guide selection, topic assigned, permission letters obtained from the industry, projects material collected, seminar material, attendance certificate, format of the project report etc.
  10. As per Anna University norms three project reviews shall be conducted and experts from other department will attend one of such review.  Experts from industries and other colleges may also be invited to attend such reviews.  Hence students are instructed to prepare themselves in planned manner and to do good quality project, industry oriented, adopting latest simulation techniques / software’s etc.
  11. Components, Testing equipments, Models, Meters, Softwares, etc., if any, may be obtained from the concerned laboratory, on requisition, submitted by the students.  Students need not to purchase the above or need not to deposit any money for the purchase of the above in the college.  Such components / Testing equipments and fabricated model should be returned to the concerned laboratory after the project and viva voce is over.  Students are not permitted to take away the projects after the project and viva voce.
  12. One or two periods are allotted in the 7th semester of B.E / B.Tech degree
    courses to get information about the projects.  Students are instructed to effectively make use of such hours for project preparatory works. 
  13. No Staff / Students are permitted to collect money from the students for doing projects inside or outside the college.  Also no staff are permitted to insist the students to do the projects in a particular training center.

  1. Apart from having their own copy of the project report, students are informed to submit a copy of the project report (and CD) each, to the internal guide, department and college library.
