CAREER PROSPECTS

Computer Science and Engineering graduates are widely employed in the software industries throughout the world. Some of the graduates are employed in the hardware, Communication and ITES industries also. Due to the globalization, there is a wide opportunity of employment for the Computer Science and Engineering graduates. The formation of various technical parks / software parks throughout the country makes a great demand for the Computer Science and Engineering course in the Engineering graduates are employed as researchers in many research organizations like DRDO, ISRO, BARC, IGCAR, etc.

DEPARTMENT FACULTY

Our Department faculty is very dedicative and cooperative in completing all works successfully with a team spirit. They got the desire to impart high quality education to students with practical exposure as per the industry expectations. Some of the staff are working in the field of Software Engineering and wireless communication to get expertise. All the staff are working towards the common goal of 100% pass percentage and placement.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

Compliments to the college library, foreign journals and computer magazines are also available form our department library. A full-fledged departmental library comprising of 612 odd, high-end books. Students are allowed to take books for their reference in addition to the Centralized library token.
In addition to this, our department library has got a separate magazine section, where journals on all engineering fields are subscribed. These journals have proved to be very useful for both the staff and students the current happenings in various fields.

Some of the computer magazines subscribed are:
*IEEE/ACM Transaction on networking
*IEEE Transaction on antennas and propagation
*IEEE Antennas and propagation Magazine

ASSOCIATION

Our department association, 'ACE', Association of Computer Engineers, ACEfocuses on individual’s all round development. This was started with a vision of molding individuals in par with current trend of the IT industry. Guest lectures, group discussions, mini projects are some of the association activities. We motivate the senior students to develop the team work and transform their experiences to junior students. This culture creates good impact as well as generates good exposure to face the interviews. Guest lectures are arranged regularly to enable every student keep in pace with the rapidly growing computer industry. Mini project are guided by the lectures. This helps the students to gain the practical knowledge over the subjects. The association activities are helpful to develop professionalism among the students and cope up with the industrial standards.
The other programs participated by our students are:
* Technical symposiums conducted by other colleges.
* Sports and Athletics activities in Zone and state levels.
* Cultural activities in university level competitions.
* Software presentation organized by leading associations.
* Technical seminars.
* Industrial visits.
Every year we organize National Level Technical Symposium for the students in which students discuss about the latest trends, prominent research areas and contemporary issues.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

We give special attention to the failure students by conducting special coaching classes. We also conduct special training courses on ‘C’ Programming and IBM Rational Robot Testing Tool. We conducted the Mini Project contest to improve the technical skills of the students.

  • IBM TGMC CONTEST

    IBM conducts a National level Project contest every year. Our students are eagerly participating in this contest every year. Hands on-training is given to the participants in TGMC contest by our faculty members to complete their Projects successfully. Our college is one of the nodal centre for giving the training to the participants. The training will be given in J2EE concepts, Eclipse, DB2 –9 and Rational Software. One of our college team had been selected as the winner in TGMC-2007 contest and another team had come among Top 20.

  • IBM CoE LAB

    IBM Rational Centre of excellence has been started in the year of 2007.This lab consisting of 30 high end workstations. We conducted AICTE sponsored Workshop on ‘IBM Rational Tools’ for 15 days in May 2008.We have already conducted two faculty development programs to give awareness in software Engineering process. Experts form our department conducted certification course on “Testing Tools” to students of our college. Also, hands-on training programme was conducted to students in IBM rational Robot Testing Tool. All IBM related training and contest are conducted in this LAB.

  • CONSULTANCY

    Our department is very keen to have close association with Industry. Our strong relationship with Premier industries like infosys,IBM,Wipro,Keane,TCS,Hexaware,Slash support etc.Based on the relations our department completed some Industrial projects and consultancy.They are :

    1. "Membership Data Survey" from MADITISSIA
    2. workshop for IBM The Great mind challenge
    3. INFOSYS campus connect program
    4. Basic computer training for Police personnel
    5. Basic computer training for TNEB,Madurai
    6. Basic computer training SHG(Self Help Group)
    7. Basic Computer Training for Women police Personnel
    8. Awareness on Computer and internet to Madurai National Information Center
